Storebro
Located 12 km from Vimmerby off Road 34. Today Storebro is most famous for its luxury yachts and boats which have an international reputation. Manufacturing was started up by Estonian refugees who settled in the area in 1945.
The village dates from 1728 when an iron mill was begun. One can visit the foundry museum and view the blacksmiths' old homes.
"Visans Skepp" was built between 1978-88 in Storebro. It is a stone ship which has 40 favourite Swedish songs and ballads carved in 20 huge stones and is a popular attraction whether you know the songs or not.
Near Storebro is Fredensborg Manor which was built in 1875 by Hugo Hammarskjöld and is now a hotel next to an attractive 18-hole golf course.
