Pelarne
10 km west of Vimmerby off higway 40, Pelarne has one of Sweden's oldest wooden churches which dates back to the 13th century. At Mossebo you can see how the gentry lived 100 years ago along with a local folk museum which depicts how the middle class lived at the turn of the last century. Albert Engström lived there for some time at Mossebo as a private tutor.
There is also an old homestead museum next to the church. The actual Bullerbyn, where Astrid Lindgren’s father, Samuel August, lived as a child, is a few kilometers from Pelarne. Astrid’s mother, Hanna i Hult, lived in Pelarnehult.
