Norra Kvill National Park
Norra Kvill - a national park in Kalmar county. Norra Kvill is a well-preserved ancient forest in the highlands of Småland, something quite unique for this part of southern Sweden. With its fallen trees, gigantic moss-covered boulders and enchanted lakes, Norra Kvill has much the character of a genuine primeval forest.
The national park is located about 19 kilometres north-west of Vimmerby, off the road to Norra Vi. The national park's central core of 27 hectares was established in 1927. It was expanded in 1993 to its present 114 hectares. The park is operated according to a management plan by which most of the forest is to be allowed to develop naturally, so that it may eventually acquire the character of a primeval forest.
The state owns the land through the Swedish Environment Protection Agency.
