The Narrow-gauge Railway
The narrow-gauge railway between Västervik and Hultsfred in Småland is Sweden's first railway that has been listed a national heritage.
The line is 71 km (44 miles) and the gauge is 891 mm (2'11 1/8"), the old Swedish "3-ft", a gauge that used to be very common. The track winds through Småland's dark forests, along glittering lakes and through small villages. Close to the line you will find lovely places to eat, good accommodation, swimming and fishing.
The trains consist either of old-timer trains or rail-buses. You can get on or off the trains at all stations and at all stops along the line. You may take your bike and/or a pram along with you on the train.
