Bathing Areas
Bathing, sunning, relaxing and perhaps playing next to a beautiful inland lake is what many people dream of on a beautiful summer's day.
Around Vimmerby, there are lots of small lakes ideal for bathing and fishing. At several of these lakes, the municipality has bathing areas with sandy beaches and boardwalks. Water lilies, reeds and small bays far from blooming algae and often a little warmer than the colder waters the sea has to offer.
Finish your day with a swim in a glittering clear inland lake. There are also several opportunities for those people who enjoy fishing; perch and pike are very popular.
Regular tests of the water in the lakes are made during the summer months. There are ten bathing areas that are tested on a regular basis: Nossen (EU-bathing area), Stjärneviksbadet in Juttern (EU-bathing), Dammen in Gullringen, Dammen in Storebro, Gränssjön, Solnen, Stora Holmsjön, Krönbadet and Anen.
A further ten lakes are tested by the municipality at the beginning of the season: Borstingen, Bysjön, Gerssjön, Gissen, Mossjön, Nyn, Rumsjön, Rostorpesjön, Solaren, Yxern (Gröpplesand) and Ören (Bosand).
There are special areas where dogs can bathe at Nossenbadet and Stjärneviksbadet. At Dammen in Storebro, Dammen in Gullringen, Gränssjön, Solnen, Stora Holmsjön, Anen, Nyn, Borstingen and Försjön dogs are not allowed to enter the water.
